Armenian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Comments on Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu's Statement
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia has commented on the statement made by Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, who claimed that Azerbaijan has repeatedly offered Armenia a peace treaty.
In response to a question from Armenpress, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Vahan Hunanyan, also commented on the statement about the so-called 'Zangezur Corridor' made by Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.
Bayramov stated that Azerbaijan has made numerous proposals to Armenia for signing a peace treaty and that despite the difficulties, it is possible to think about normalization of relations. How would you interpret this statement?
The Armenian government has adopted a strategy aimed at opening a new era of peaceful development for Armenia and the region, and, naturally, it shows willingness to undertake steps in this direction. As for signing a specific peace treaty, it has been stated at the highest levels on several occasions that this is one of the government's priority agenda items.
In turn, Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu spoke about the so-called 'Zangezur Corridor'. What is the stance of the Armenian Foreign Ministry regarding this statement?
For us, this discourse is incomprehensible, and everyone is aware of this. On the other hand, the opening of regional communications is also one of the government's priorities, and specific steps are being taken in this direction, including within the framework of the 'Armenian Junction' project.
