Over 200 Vehicles Unable to Move Due to Snowdrift in Vayots Dzor

For more than 1.5 hours, nearly 200 vehicles have been unable to move on the Yerevan-Yeraskh-Meghri highway, from the Tigranashen bends to the administrative area of Yelpin in Vayots Dzor province, due to heavy snowfall.

According to reports from the scene by shamshyan.com, road maintenance workers have been using special equipment since early morning to clear the road, but the snowstorm quickly covers the roadway with a new layer of snow.

It has been noted that many vehicles are equipped with summer tires, which further complicates their ability to navigate through the area. The traffic jam extends for about 5 kilometers, prompting a decision by the commander of the Traffic Police's 2nd Battalion, Arsen Mardoyan, to suspend traffic for safety reasons from the 'Yeraskh calcareous' section to Yelpin, a distance of approximately 20 kilometers.

Local road workers are actively working to reopen the road, but drivers are witnessing that the snowstorm continues to hinder efforts. Due to safety concerns for citizens, the road in the Yelpin area of Vayots Dzor province has also been closed.
