7 Million Dram Bag Stolen from Haypost Cash-in-Transit Vehicle
On March 2, an incident of particularly large theft occurred in the Kotayk region. At approximately 1:50 PM, the Kotayk regional police department received a call from citizen Hamlet M., who reported that a bag containing funds designated for pensioners had disappeared from the cash-in-transit vehicle parked in front of the "Haypost 01" branch in Charentsavan.
According to shamshyan.com, Kotayk regional police chief Arthur Zohrabyan, operational deputy chief Khoren Barkhoyan, and Charentsavan police chief Artak Asatryan arrived at the scene. It was determined that on the same day at around 1:30 PM, Gevorg Hovhannisyan, a driver-escort for "Haypost" LLC, noticed that a bag filled with cash had gone missing from the interior of a Renault Logan vehicle belonging to the company under unknown circumstances.
According to sources, the bag contained nearly 7 million drams. Under the leadership of A. Zohrabyan, police in the Kotayk region took necessary operational-investigative measures and found that the bag with the 7 million drams had been stolen by 33-year-old Narek Harutyunyan, a resident of Yerevan, who took advantage of G. Hovhannisyan's temporary absence to steal it and transport it to a location where he had parked his Opel vehicle.
