New Details on Yesterday's Suicide Attempt with a Grenade at Apaven LLC

On March 2nd, a 32-year-old resident of Yerevan, Edgar K., was arrested by the senior investigator Ara Avagyan of the Shengavit investigative department of the RA Investigative Committee.

According to shamshyan.com, he was detained regarding an incident that occurred the same day at the Apaven terminal located at 43 Araratyan Street.

As part of the initiated criminal case, it was revealed that on the same day, at 6:50 PM, the head of security at the terminal, 40-year-old P. Sh., called the police and reported that Edgar K. was in an intoxicated state and had assaulted one of the security personnel present on duty, threatening to commit suicide with a grenade in hand.

Later that day, around 8:00 PM, the Shengavit medical center notified the Shengavit police department that an ambulance crew had transported a citizen with a diagnosis of "closed fracture of the right thigh bone, facial contusion."

The arriving police officers, led by department head Karen Buniatyan, determined that the transported individual was 73-year-old Avetis A., an employee of Apaven LLC's security team.

He reported to the police that he had sustained his injuries during violent actions at the workplace.

During the preliminary investigation, it was also discovered that Edgar K. had engaged in a dispute with Avetis A. while holding an “F-1” grenade, during which he inflicted injuries on him, broke the office entry door, and shattered the rear window of a Mercedes vehicle owned by 57-year-old Eduard S., the director of Apaven LLC.

He subsequently declared that he would detonate himself.

Thanks to the explanatory work of the police on the site, Edgar K. threw the grenade into a safe area where it exploded, after which he was taken into custody by the Shengavit police department and subsequently presented to the investigative department. The preliminary investigation of the initiated criminal case is ongoing.
