Which Russian Banks Have Been Cut Off From SWIFT?

On March 2, the European Union disconnected seven Russian banks from the international SWIFT system, reports korrespondent.net. Thus, VTB, Rossiya, Otkritie, Novikombank, Promsvyazbank, Sovcombank, and VEB banks have been disconnected from the system.

The ban will come into effect on March 12. These sanctions are due to the initiation of military operations by the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

It’s important to recall that on the morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation aimed at the demilitarization of Ukraine. In a televised address, he stated that the circumstances “demand decisive and immediate actions from us, as the peoples of the Donbas republics have asked for assistance from Russia.”

According to the Russian leader, all responsibility for the bloodshed will lie on the conscience of the regime ruling in Ukraine. He called on Ukrainian military personnel to disregard the criminal orders of the Ukrainian authorities, to lay down their arms, and go home.
