Russia Presents Unrealistic Demands, Statement from Turkey

Russia is presenting unrealistic demands in negotiations, said Erdoğan's spokesperson.

Turkey's presidential representative and chief advisor Ibrahim Kalin commented on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the ongoing negotiations between the parties.

Kalin noted that the second round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine scheduled for March 2 will not take place due to an increase in the intensity of military operations. “Negotiations will likely be postponed by 1-2 days. We are in contact with the delegations,” said Kalin, adding that negotiations cannot yield results if they are conducted merely to gain time.

Speaking about Russia's demands in the negotiations, Kalin stated:

“The negotiations are not easy. Russia is making unrealistic demands such as the recognition of Crimea and the disarmament of Ukraine. From our perspective, acceptance of these demands is impossible. We are focusing on ending the war, establishing a ceasefire, and opening humanitarian corridors.”
