RT and Sputnik Media Outlets Officially Banned in the EU

Russian RT and Sputnik media outlets have been officially banned in the European Union as of today, due to their distortion of events surrounding Ukraine, according to a Commission statement.

The imposed ban halts the broadcasting of the news outlets and their subsidiaries, prohibits the downloading of their applications, and restricts the sharing of content created by them on social media platforms, as outlined in documents released by the European Commission today.

“To justify its aggression against Ukraine and to support this aggression, the Russian Federation has been conducting ongoing and coordinated propaganda operations aimed at the EU and neighboring civil society members, seriously distorting and manipulating the facts,” the Commission wrote.
