Calls Received from Armenians in Ukraine to the Ombudsman Office
The Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia has released a statement indicating that it has been receiving calls on its hotline from Armenian citizens and compatriots regarding the protection of their rights due to ongoing military operations in Ukraine.
The Defender's office is taking necessary measures depending on the issues raised, including providing consultations and addressing specific problems to the relevant departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the corresponding consular establishments.
Recently, a video circulated widely in Armenian online spaces depicting a captured injured soldier, reportedly of Armenian descent, Hayk Tsaturyan. In connection with this incident, the Human Rights Defender's institution has contacted the Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights of Ukraine, as well as the Armenian Embassy in Ukraine. All information known to the Defender regarding the case has been conveyed to them.
Simultaneously, the Defender's office is working to obtain additional information about the alleged individual depicted in the video. The office will provide further information as necessary.
