60-Year-Old Couple Who Lost Their Only Son in 44-Day War Become Parents Again

At the "Shengavit" Medical Center in Yerevan, the brother of Garik Davtyan, who was killed during the 44-day war, has been born. This is a unique occasion as the hero's parents, Gevorg and Gohar Davtyan, at the age of 60, have decided to become parents again after 24 years, fulfilling their dream with the help of surrogate mother, under the guidance of reproductive specialist Anna Khachatryan.

The "Shengavit" Medical Center reports that the baby has been named after his brother. "The couple cannot hide their emotions. The mother shares that she was very anxious before the birth of the baby, but then she had a dream and understood that there is no need to be afraid; God and hero Garik will ensure that everything goes well. Mrs. Gohar does not hide that she missed it when her son used to call her ‘mom,’ and little Garik will help her feel that joy again," the statement reads.

The baby was born weighing 3,450 grams and measuring 51 cm tall, with the delivery overseen by Ashot Sirunyan, Deputy Director of the "Shengavit" Medical Center in charge of obstetrics. The newborn is feeling great and is preparing to go home.
