VIDEO: Kupiansk Mayor Voluntarily Surrenders City to Russians Without a Fight
The mayor of Kupiansk, a city in Ukraine's Kharkiv region, has stated that he negotiated with Russian forces and voluntarily surrendered his city.
The city's administration mentioned on its Telegram channel that the Russian military entered the city peacefully and without confrontation. The Telegram update from the local authorities indicated that negotiations were held with representatives of the Russian troops.
"As the representatives of Russia have stated, they are only interested in public order," the post reads.
Following the negotiations, a convoy of Russian military equipment continued to move forward, escorted by Ukrainian police. There are no Ukrainian army units present in the city.
It is noteworthy that military operations in Ukraine have been ongoing since February 24.
