China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Situation in Ukraine

The official representative of the Ministry, Hua Chunying, stated that China’s position on the matter differs from that of the American leadership. Russia can manage the situation in Ukraine independently and does not need military assistance from China. This was announced today by the official representative of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hua Chunying.

“Russia is a powerful major power. It does not need the support of China or any other country,” he declared during a press briefing, responding to a western journalist's question about whether Beijing is providing military aid to Moscow in light of the situation in Ukraine.

The Chinese diplomat indicated that Beijing’s stance on the issue is different from the views of the U.S. government. “We will not act like the U.S., which supplies a large amount of weaponry to Ukraine,” he added.

The Russian authorities decided to conduct military operations in Ukraine independently, without seeking China's opinion, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China asserted. Russia operates independently and autonomously, guided by its own military decisions and does not need to seek China's approval before taking any actions, emphasized Chunying.

It is worth noting that the situation in Donbas escalated on February 17. On February 19, the leaders of the LPR and DPR signed decrees for a general mobilization and then appealed to Russia for recognition. Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the Russian people on February 21, announcing his decision to recognize the sovereignty of the LPR and DPR. On February 24, Vladimir Putin declared that he had decided to carry out a special military operation in Donbas.
