Several European countries have fallen victim to Storm Franklin, which has resulted in severe flooding, damaged homes, and downed power lines. In France, the bad weather struck northern and northwestern regions, causing the roof of a local equestrian sports complex in Amiens to collapse, while in Bréhal-sur-Mer, floodwaters swept away a car belonging to an elderly couple, leading to fatalities.

For Great Britain, Franklin may prove to be even more devastating, as at least 50,000 homes remain without electricity as of today. Rivers have overflowed in parts of Northern Ireland and England, leading to hundreds of families being evacuated in Yorkshire and near Manchester due to the flood threat. In Leeds, the Aire River's dam could not withstand the pressure of the elements.

Local authorities still need to calculate the losses caused by the storms. However, there is good news: the bad weather has led to a record increase in wind energy production across mainland Europe.
