Azerbaijani Representatives Lie at "Euronews" Meeting, Says Naira Zohrabyan During Protest
Azerbaijani representatives are lying when they claim there are no more Armenian prisoners of war in Azerbaijan, said former Armenian Parliament member Naira Zohrabyan, who joined citizens protesting near the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex.
"We still have dozens of prisoners in Azerbaijani jails. And Azerbaijani officials claim there are no longer prisoners, they are merely lawbreakers. Today, the brothers, cousins, and relatives of those killed by Bayraktar drones have gathered here," stated Zohrabyan.
According to her, Azerbaijani lawmakers speak about cultural heritage, pretending to be open to the international community and allegedly in favor of dialogue to preserve the culture and identity of each nation.
Protesters against the Azerbaijani delegation gathered near the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex on the day of the "Euronews" parliamentary assembly session (February 22, 2022) in Yerevan.
"If I could enter, I would spit on the Azerbaijani delegate's face because he is lying through his teeth," said Zohrabyan.
She recalled her participation in a previous "Euronews" session in Baku when the Armenian delegation faced provocations. "Years ago, when our delegation was in Baku, our heads were held high. When Ilham Aliyev sat in the hall and addressed the Armenian delegation, saying there were fascists sitting here who defiled my ancestors' graves, I can't express in words what the Armenian delegation did in response—within five minutes, there was chaos, shouting, and chants that even if we are in Baku, you do not have the right to insult Armenia or say anything indecent about Artsakh and its people," Zohrabyan recalled.
Naira Zohrabyan stated that she personally handed books to Aliyev and Azerbaijani lawmakers in the Azerbaijani Parliament, declaring that they lied when discussing the Khojaly genocide.
