Armenia Still in Dark Red Zone: Omicron in Armenia
According to EU standards, regardless of the decline in COVID-19 cases, Armenia remains in the dark red zone due to a high rate of infection and a positivity rate of over 29%. This was stated by Romella Abovyan, head of the infectious and non-infectious diseases epidemiology department of the Ministry of Health, during a press conference held with journalists today.
She noted that statistical data indicates that the situation is tense worldwide due to the Omicron variant, which has three subtypes, with the most dangerous and infectious being the BA2 subtype. This subtype has already been detected in Armenia through selective sequencing research.
The specialist added that symptoms of infection with the Omicron variant of coronavirus are very similar to those characteristic of acute respiratory infections, such as runny nose, fever, and cough. This is the main reason why many people do not seek assistance from primary healthcare services in many cases.
