Is There a Threat of a Great War? Johnson Warns

The Prime Minister of Great Britain, Boris Johnson, spoke in an interview with the BBC about the threat of the largest war since the end of World War II, related to the escalation of the situation around Ukraine.

According to the politician, there are certain "signs" that Russia has "in some sense already begun to implement a plan to invade Ukrainian territory." The Prime Minister of Great Britain referenced intelligence data, stating that Russian troops were allegedly preparing to "encircle" Kyiv. Additionally, citing the words of U.S. President Joe Biden, he emphasized that Russia intends to start an "invasion" not only from the east of Ukraine but also from Belarus.

The plans attributed to Moscow regarding the escalation of the situation around Ukraine are categorically denied, with continuous claims that no one is being threatened and that all such statements are used as a pretext for deploying more NATO military equipment near Russia's borders.

As previously stated by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Moscow is not creating any pretext for the conflict situation around the neighboring country. According to him, Russia does not rule out that the West's hysteria around Ukraine is aimed at covering up Kyiv's course to sabotage the Minsk agreements regarding Donbass.

Statements about Russia allegedly preparing provocations in Ukraine continue to sound from the West, despite the return of Russian troops to their deployment points following exercises. Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, during a meeting with Putin on Monday, reported that "part of the exercises is nearing completion, with some concluding in the near future." On Tuesday, Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov announced that the Southern and Western military districts had begun returning troops to their deployment areas. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
