The Armenian Government to Acquire New Ambulances
The newspaper "Hayrapet" reports that soon the Armenian government will acquire new ambulances thanks to a grant provided by the Japanese government. The grant was given by the Japanese, and the competition for the vehicles was won by "Toyota Yerevan," a company in which Robert Kocharyan’s family has a stake. This company will import the ambulances, which will naturally be Toyota models, and will then equip them accordingly to be provided to the Ministry of Health.
Minister Anahit Avanesyan confirmed this information, stating, "We hope to receive the vehicles in June. They are Japanese Toyotas, equipped with all necessary equipment and adapted for our roads. The Japanese government conducted a tender within the framework of the grant, which was purchased by them after a lengthy process and is being provided to the Republic of Armenia." The discussion involves approximately 39 vehicles, specifically Toyota Hiace models, which the ministry will distribute among hospitals in Yerevan and the regions.
Indeed, the experience with the police’s Škoda vehicles has been a lesson learned; it has become clear that importing vehicles unsuitable for our conditions can lead to headaches later on, and it is impossible to exclude "Toyota" from the supplier field.
