By Granting Us Refugee Status, We Will Show the World That Our Territories Have Been Occupied by Azerbaijan

This morning, the primary issue is our status, which needs to be recognized, stated Arevik Hambardzumyan, an Artsakh resident currently living in the village of Yeghenavan in the Ararat region, during a protest. The woman said that she currently makes ends meet by finding daily wage work or relying on a pension, but is not working at the moment. "The only thing that burdens us is the rent we cannot afford to pay, while we manage to cover our other needs," she stated.

Today, displaced Artsakh residents held a protest in front of the Government building, demanding their rights. "Refugee status should be granted not just so we have the opportunity to move somewhere or continue our lives elsewhere; no, by obtaining refugee status, a person from Hadrut will show the world that, yes, such an event has occurred, and our territories have been occupied by the authorities of Azerbaijan," remarked the resident of Artsakh.

The woman mentioned that they are called back from Artsakh and expressed their willingness to return. "It’s not that we will not go back to Artsakh; the status of Artsakh must also be determined, and the security issues must be addressed, so that we are not forced to leave our homes for a third time," she said. Also, the Artsakh residents demand the resignation of Hayk Hanumyan, the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Artsakh.
