Saudi Arabia Rejects U.S. Request to Increase Oil Production: WSJ
Saudi Arabia has not complied with U.S. President Joseph Biden's request to increase oil production levels. This was reported by The Wall Street Journal columnist Benoit Faucon.
It is noted that the American leader's request aimed to reduce energy prices.
As Faucon pointed out, Saudi Arabia decided with this decision to "stand alongside Russia" as it is the world's largest exporter of crude oil.
According to him, the price of oil for American consumers has doubled since the pandemic, and Biden has repeatedly reached out to Saudi authorities. However, in response, it was noted that the country would not violate the agreement of OPEC members and Russia regarding the monthly increase of fuel production by 400,000 barrels.
