Italian and Spanish Companies Debate Over the Table Used During Putin and Macron's Meeting

Businessmen, Spaniard Vicente Saragosa and Italian Renato Polonia, have disagreed over which of their companies crafted the long table around which Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Emmanuel Macron held negotiations. This was reported by The Guardian.

The controversy began after Saragosa stated in an interview with a Spanish radio station that the table, at which the leaders sat, was made in his workshop in Valencia. According to him, the table is made of Alpine white ash and adorned with real gold leaf.

However, Renato Polonia, founder of the small enterprise Oak in the Italian town of Como, claims that Saragosa is lying by asserting that he was involved in the creation of that table. He pointed out that this model was made in the mid-1990s, and photos of it were actively circulated in Russian magazines and newspapers at that time.

“This person, whom I do not know, says this table was made in 2005. That is a lie. As evidence, we have all the certificates of the work done and even recognition from the president, who at the time was Boris Yeltsin,” Polonia said.

On February 7, negotiations between Putin and Macron at the Kremlin lasted more than five hours. Following the meeting, the Kremlin explained why Putin and Macron were seated at such a long table, which has become the subject of jokes.
