‘It Seems That This Government Does Not Need a Ready Army’ - Kocharian

Our army is currently unable to independently defend the borders and security of Armenia. This was stated by Armenia’s second president, Robert Kocharian, during a meeting with journalists.

According to the second president, almost nothing has been done to restore the army’s armaments since the war. “A vivid example of this is the events that took place in Sisian last November, and the recent discovery of spies by the NSS already speaks to the psychological state prevailing in our armed forces,” said R. Kocharian, adding that the budget allocated for the army does not inspire hope for serious changes in the near future. “The government does not pay enough attention; it seems that this government does not need a ready army. When they increase the pensions of prosecutors, they forget that there are officers whose encouragement is far more critical today,” said the second president.
