NATO Secretary General Calls for Direct Talks with Russia on Arms Control

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has called for direct negotiations with Russia regarding arms control issues. Stoltenberg insists that NATO is a defensive alliance and does not pose a threat to Russia. This was reported by RT.

According to him, the alliance expresses its readiness to sit at the negotiating table to discuss Russia's security concerns and the subject of arms control.

“If they are concerned about missiles and offensive weaponry, then the best way to resolve it is to sit down at the negotiation table to discuss how to reduce the number of missiles,” Stoltenberg stated.

He added that “agreements can be reached with Russia, not only in the field of arms control.”

The NATO Secretary General also mentioned that the alliance does not plan to deploy offensive systems in Ukraine.
