Is the Visit of Three Azerbaijani MPs to Yerevan under Discussion? Mamikanyan Comments

On February 21 and 22, two committees of the "Euronest" will hold sessions in Yerevan, which will likely include an Azerbaijani delegation. Maria Karapetyan, head of the Armenian delegation of "Euronest," informed the media that discussions are ongoing regarding the visit of Azerbaijani MPs to Yerevan. Reports indicate that the issue of three MPs coming to Armenia is under consideration.

In an interview with "Factinfo," Hayk Mamikanyan, secretary of the "Honorary Presence" faction and a member of the Armenian delegation to "Euronest," stated that he has no specific information about the Azerbaijani delegation's arrival in Yerevan. However, he emphasized that this should not be an obstacle for the Armenian delegation.

“Within the framework of 'Euronest,' I personally intend to voice all the issues facing our country, from prisoners of war to the presence of Azerbaijani militants in our sovereign territory, the unacceptable rhetoric related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and so on. I will raise all the issues that concern patriotic citizens. My rhetoric will absolutely not change, regardless of whether the Azerbaijanis are present in the hall, listening via video link, or not listening at all,” said the MP.

Regarding the general attitude towards the Azerbaijani delegation's arrival in Yerevan, Hayk Mamikanyan reacted negatively. “How can this be viewed positively? I believe that any international platform should be utilized to raise the issues our country faces. Azerbaijan is present in the 'Euronest' format, but this should not be an obstacle for us; on the contrary, it should serve as a tool to present all the existing problems to Azerbaijan on this platform,” said the opposition MP.

Additionally, Maria Karapetyan, the head of the Armenian delegation to "Euronest" and a member of the ruling party, stated to one of the media outlets that the Azerbaijani delegation will most likely arrive in Armenia. Auroranews.am has been trying to contact the MP since the morning to clarify the details regarding the three Azerbaijani MPs and obtain more information on the topic, but the latter has not responded to calls.
