"I Took a Day Off, Had Beer and Pizza": How the British Mock Biden and US Intelligence
Readers of the British Daily Mail have reacted to news about Russia's alleged "invasion" of Ukraine. They criticized media outlets that claimed the Russian Federation would attack the independent state on the night of February 16, as reported by RIA Novosti.
Earlier, British tabloids The Sun and Mirror had declared that an "invasion of Ukraine" would take place on February 16, specifying the exact time to be 3 a.m. local time. However, as expected, nothing happened.
"It’s already Wednesday, friends," one user reminded and mocked.
"I took a day off, made beer and pizza, even paid extra to speed up the delivery of my new couch so that I could be comfortably situated to watch the 'invasion'. Damn Western intelligence, you’re as credible and useful as last winter," wrote another user sarcastically.
"The war was supposed to start 46 minutes ago. I set my alarm to wake up on time, but nothing is happening. Western media: disappointment, so many promises, zero wisdom," lamented user Pelikan.
"Wednesday... Biden, you’re not better than Bush with his weapons of mass destruction. 'The war starts on Wednesday,' no, they’re all asleep in their beds,” Delrey commented.
"It seems that only Biden and the media are the ones inciting war," expressed another British user.
In recent months, Western media and politicians have been discussing Russia’s supposedly imminent invasion of Ukraine, while these statements have been repeatedly denied in Moscow. US President Joe Biden referred to February 16 as the date of the "invasion."
