Entrance of Animals and Insects into Food Preparation Areas Not Prevented; Factory Activity Suspended

As a result of the monitoring activities carried out by inspectors from the Regional Center of the Food Safety Inspection Body of the Republic of Armenia in Vayots Dzor, significant violations of sanitary and hygienic standards have been discovered at a lavash production facility owned by individual entrepreneur Manvel Hambardzumyan in the city of Jermuk.

The Food Safety Inspection Body reports that specifically, the production, auxiliary, and sanitary sinks have not been clean and renovated, appropriate areas for washing, disinfecting, and storing work tools and accessories were not provided, and the sinks were not equipped with running hot and cold water. Moreover, no measures were taken to prevent the entry of animals and insects into the food preparation, processing, storage, and transportation areas, and there was no locker room designated for employees.

As a result, the activity of the factory has been suspended and a deadline has been set to rectify the violations.
