Ukrainian Military Pilots Massively Resigning Due to Low Salaries

American Forbes columnist David Ax has reported on the mass dismissal of military pilots from the Ukrainian Armed Forces. According to him, the reasons are low salaries and excessive bureaucracy, as reported by Kp.ru.

He reminded that Ukraine currently has between 37 to 70 MiG-29s in service, but in case of a confrontation, they would be unable to effectively counter Russian aircraft.

“However, aging MiGs are probably not the biggest problem for Ukraine. The lack of pilots in the armed forces could keep many planes grounded,” Ax noted.

According to him, in 2019 and 2020, 70 pilots left the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and in 2021, another five pilots departed. Ax revealed that the pilots have been leaving due to low salaries, excessive paperwork, and poor military training.
