The Reopening of Stepanakert Airport is in Negotiation Phase: 'Hayots Ashkharh'

According to the 'Hayots Ashkharh' newspaper, the status of Stepanakert Airport remains unchanged at this time. In an interview with the newspaper, Artsakh's Foreign Minister David Babayan stated this fact. It is noteworthy that recently the executive director of ‘Stepanakert Airport’ LLC was dismissed, which raised concerns among experts about potential changes regarding the airport's status.

According to information from 'Hayots Ashkharh', the main airport in Artsakh might soon be reopened in collaboration with the Russian side and with direct intervention. In our conversation, Minister Babayan noted that there is no political element in the aforementioned dismissal. Regarding the reopening of the airport or cooperation with the Russians, the foreign minister said, 'Of course, we all want and are interested in it being reopened, but it probably requires some time. As for cooperating with the Russians, we will see, we will try to do everything possible to have it reopened.'

From the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of the Republic of Artsakh, which oversees the airport, we were informed: 'The reopening of the airport is currently in the negotiation phase, and there is definitely cooperation with the Russian peacekeepers.'

More details can be found in today’s issue of the newspaper.
