Police Present Gift to Drunk Driver of Range Rover with Fake License Plates on His Birthday
Under the directive of the Chief of Police, Major General Vahe Ghazaryan, strict orders have been issued for the traffic police to wage an uncompromising battle against drivers who operate vehicles with fake license plates and under the influence.
According to Shamshyan.com, in just the past few months, the traffic police have taken nearly 20 luxury vehicles with 'gold' license plates, including those belonging to officials, into custody from specially designated areas in their service zones due to traffic violations. Some drivers lacked valid driver's licenses, some were intoxicated, and others had placed different license plates on their vehicles.
The traffic police set up surveillance in several busy streets of Martuni city and shortly afterward received information about the location of a specific Range Rover. Within seconds, the traffic police stopped the driver of the Range Rover and subsequently had the vehicle transported to the special holding area of the Martuni police department.
The driver, identified as 51-year-old Vardan Hakobyan, a resident of Martuni city, underwent a sobriety test, which confirmed that he was indeed intoxicated (at the highest level of drunkenness).
According to media reports, today marks V. Hakobyan's birthday.
