An American police officer has become a social media hero after rescuing a dog from a burning car. According to NDTV, Deputy Sheriff Michael Gregorek was passing by in his vehicle when he noticed a car on fire. The owner was frantically running around the car, shouting that his dog named Hank was trapped inside and needed urgent help.

Rescue teams arriving at the scene broke the car's window to free the dog, but it was unable to escape due to the mangled metal. The owner attempted to pull his pet out as well but was equally powerless to do so.

Realizing he needed to take action, Michael stepped in and removed the dog from the burning car, inhaling the thick smoke in the process. Internet users praised Gregorek for saving the dog, calling him a true hero. “Great job, Michael,” wrote one commenter.
