A resident of Gerda village in India's Uttarakhand state drove off a leopard with a stick that had attacked her six-year-old daughter, saving her in the process. According to Lenta.ru, the leopard pounced on the young girl while she was playing outside.

At the time of the attack, the girl's mother, Rina Devi, was cleaning the house. Hearing her daughter's screams, she armed herself with a stick and confronted the leopard, forcing the animal to flee the scene.

As a result of the incident, the girl sustained serious injuries to her face and head and was hospitalized. Reports indicate that her condition is critical.

Following the incident, representatives from the forestry department arrived at the scene. It is believed that the leopard had come from the Nanpara reserve into the village.
