Armenia's Population Continues to Decrease: 'Haykakan Jamanak'

According to the newspaper 'Haykakan Jamanak', as of January 1, 2022, the permanent population of Armenia was 2,961.0 thousand people. In the same period of 2021, the permanent population was 2,963.3 thousand, indicating a decrease of 2-3 thousand within a year. At the beginning of 2020, Armenia's permanent population was 2,959.7 thousand, and at the start of 2019, it was 2,965.3 thousand.

This information was reported by the Statistical Committee of Armenia.

The urban population comprised 1,891.9 thousand, while the rural population stood at 1,069.1 thousand. The permanent population of Yerevan was 1,092.7 thousand people.

The figure for the permanent population as of July 1, 2021, was 2,964.6 thousand, including 1,896.7 thousand urban residents and 1,067.9 thousand rural residents. As of July 1, 2020, Armenia's permanent population was 2,963.0 thousand, indicating that the population has continued to decline since the revolution.
