‘No statement can affect the friendship between the Armenian and Belarusian peoples’ – Hakob Arshakyan

‘The Armenian and Belarusian peoples are brotherly nations, and no statement can affect the friendship between the two peoples’: said Hakob Arshakyan, Acting Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, during a press briefing with journalists, referring to the statement made by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko regarding Armenia.

Commenting on Lukashenko’s remarks about becoming part of a union state, Arshakyan stated that such a matter is not under discussion. ‘We have heard similar statements many times. But I want to emphasize that the Armenian and Belarusian peoples are brotherly nations, we have very close friendly relations. No statement can affect that friendship between the peoples,’ said Arshakyan.

He added that various similar remarks have been made at different times. ‘These are statements concerning their internal political issues; such matters are not being discussed in Armenia,’ Arshakyan assured.

He reminded of the response statement by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, noting that his comments do not differ from it.
