Moscow Highlights What Could Lead Kyiv to Military Adventurism

Germany has transferred five thousand helmets to Ukraine, while arms supplies are severely restricted. This was announced in an interview with The Washington Post by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, as reported by Ria Novosti.

“Firstly, Ukraine requested the shipment of helmets, and we responded to that request. Secondly, there are strict export criteria that we adhere to when exporting weapons to crisis regions. There has been a long-standing commitment to German export limitations on weapons, which was handled by the previous government,” the Chancellor explained.

Earlier, the German Ministry of Defense announced that it would provide Kyiv with five thousand helmets. The Ukrainian ambassador in Germany has repeatedly urged for the initiation of defensive weapon supplies, but the German government, under Social Democrat Scholz, has stated that no weapons will be transferred to conflict regions.

The media notes that the conflict in eastern Ukraine has lasted nearly 8 years, during which, according to UN data, it has resulted in the deaths of more than 13 thousand people, and about 44 thousand others have been injured.

The de-escalation is being discussed during a contact group meeting in Belarus' capital, using the Minsk agreements as a basis. The agreement provides for the implementation of constitutional reforms, a ceasefire, and the withdrawal of heavy weapons from the line of contact.

Currently, Ukrainian authorities have concentrated a large portion of the army near the border with the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic and the Donetsk People's Republic, regularly shelling militias, including with the use of prohibited equipment. Tensions in Donbas are exacerbated by the United States and other NATO countries, which are supplying arms and military instructors to Ukraine.

Repeated calls have been made in Moscow to halt the influx of weapons into the region, as this could encourage Kyiv to pursue military adventurism.
