Iran's Foreign Ministry on New Round of Negotiations for Transportation Corridor through Armenia
In April and May 2023, Sofia will host the sixth round of negotiations regarding the activation of the Persian Gulf-Black Sea transportation-logistics corridor. This was reported by the Mehr agency, citing Mehdi Safari, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy.
According to him, by that time, the text of the agreement will be ready for signing. “Preparations are underway in Tehran and other relevant capitals with the ambassadors of the participating countries of the agreement, so God willing, we will soon see the emergence of an important transportation corridor with various routes to facilitate trade between the countries of the region and the outside world,” Safari added.
He informed that negotiations on the signing of the agreement regarding the Persian Gulf-Black Sea corridor are still ongoing between Iran, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Bulgaria, and Greece.
It should be noted that last October, Ali Reza Peyman-Pak, head of Iran's Trade Promotion Organization, announced plans to maximize the use of trade corridors. Russia is one of the countries where Iran's exports are expected to expand.
“We have explored options to replace Azerbaijan,” he noted. According to Ali Reza Peyman-Pak, the route from Armenia to Georgia will be completed within a month.
