Service of Route 67 and 41 Has Been Suspended: Alternatives Offered
Routes 67 and 41 will no longer be serviced. The operation of the vehicles servicing these routes has been suspended due to the expiration of their operational period.
Both routes also serve the Nerkhin Charbakh area, where public transport is not actively operating. For example, residents had used the transport servicing route 41 to reach the city center, but for several days now, they have been utilizing alternative options to get to the center.
Anna, who regularly used the 41 route, told NEWS.am that the route was overloaded as it was the only line going to the center. “At morning hours, the 41 was already very congested. The number of passengers was exceedingly high; people were literally crammed into the vehicle to reach the center. Now that this route is not in service, people are forced to either walk several stops to access other transport or change two vehicles, or use taxis, which they cannot afford, especially given the widespread price increases,” Anna noted.
The press service of the Yerevan Municipality clarified that the operational period of the vehicles servicing routes 67 and 41, which was 15 years, has expired. Starting from February 7, routes 54 and 14 will replace the 67 route.
“The municipality has supplemented the 54 and 14 bus routes with several buses. There will also be a route modification to ensure that citizens who previously relied on route 67 do not experience discomfort. Starting Monday, expanded transport units of routes 54 and 14 will be deployed, which will closely approach the areas where residents faced challenges,” the press service stated.
The question of replacing route 41 is also being discussed at the municipality, but currently, no alternative is being proposed. “Previously, a private company operated route minivans, but it is no longer feasible to continue that. Therefore, changes will occur that may not be favorable to residents, but a viable alternative is being considered. However, it is not excluded that there will be a need to transfer using both routes, depending on the available resources,” added the Yerevan Municipality’s press service.
Route 67 serves the following neighborhoods: Nerkhin Charbakh (starting point) - Araratyan - Shiraki - Artashisiain St. - Bagratunyats Ave. - Sebastatsiain - Raffi - Zor. Andranik - Ohanyan - Sherami - A. Babajanyan St. - Ejmiatsni crossroad - Parakar village (endpoint). The return route is the same.
