Macron to Visit Russia and Ukraine: What to Expect from the Trip
French President Emmanuel Macron will travel to Russia on February 7 and to Ukraine on February 8, according to Agence France Presse citing the Elysée Palace.
"Macron is departing for Russia on Monday and for Ukraine on Tuesday," the agency’s report states.
Recently, there have been increasing statements in the West and Ukraine about Russia's alleged possible "invasion" of Ukrainian territory. Russian President Vladimir Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov described such information as empty and baseless escalation of tensions, emphasizing that Russia poses no threat to anyone.
At the same time, he did not rule out the possibility of provocations to justify such statements, warning that attempts to resolve the issue through military means in southeastern Ukraine would have most serious consequences.
