Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Responds to Ararat Mirzoyan
First of all, I would like to emphasize that Azerbaijan's mutually beneficial relations with international organizations are successfully developing. It is known that our country actively participates in multilateral platforms and has successful presidency experience in several countries. This was stated by Leyla Abdullayeva, spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, responding to the remarks made by the Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a press conference held in Armenia, where Mirzoyan noted that 'Azerbaijan is creating obstacles for the activities of international organizations in Nagorno-Karabakh.'
“Regarding the activities of international organizations in Azerbaijan, according to the UN General Assembly resolution of December 19, 1991, related to the coordination of humanitarian assistance, such activities must be carried out based on the principle of respect for the state's sovereignty and territorial integrity. It is under this principle that the operations of international organizations are conducted in the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan. We inform the Armenian Foreign Minister that any activities of international organizations on our sovereign lands are a bilateral issue between the respective international organization and Azerbaijan; comments from representatives of a third state in this regard are inappropriate and unfounded,” Abdullayeva stated.
It should be noted that Mirzoyan, in his speech, mentioned that Azerbaijan is trying to limit the activities of even the International Committee of the Red Cross in the Republic of Artsakh and is forcing the agency to conform to the policy it wants. “This is the only organization that has entered and been present in Artsakh in recent years. Now Azerbaijan is even restricting that,” Mirzoyan emphasized.
