Emergency Situation: A Large Number of Vehicles Stranded on Icy Road
Today, February 4, an emergency situation has arisen in the Vayots Dzor region. For over 3 hours this morning, traffic has been paralyzed on the 193rd kilometer of the Yerevan-Meghri highway, in the administrative area of Elpin near the Vayots Dzor region, due to icy road conditions.
In an interview with Shamshyan.com, the drivers, who refused to speak on camera, stated, “They say the situation has changed. Starting from 9:30 AM, chaos has prevailed for more than 3 hours. It seems that the officials of the Yeghegnadzor road department have fallen into a bear’s sleep. It’s interesting that if you have won the tenders and are obliged to perform your duties flawlessly for the state and the people, why is there such chaos? Who has seen waiting more than 3 hours? Shouldn’t the Yeghegnadzor road department be courteous to their manager and clear the road from ice, carry out the necessary work? Not a gram of salt or sand has been spread. We have only received moral support from the firefighters and road police of Yeghegnadzor. Now, if there is an emergency call, we do not know when the ambulances will reach the patient. And the fault lies with the Yeghegnadzor road department. Now, with our hundred wise heads, we do not know when the road department will graciously begin the work of clearing the road from ice. They speak of civilized and European countries. If such a state of neglect existed there, the head of the road department would pay a hefty sum for poorly executed work and, if necessary, be dismissed from their job.
