Customs Representatives Protest
Customs representatives have taken to the streets and are holding a protest action. They are currently in the yard of the building at Isakov 10.
“The problem is that the President of the State Revenue Committee has issued an order that, in our opinion, is clearly contrary to the law. According to the customs regulations law, a customs declaration specialist is granted a certificate in accordance with the procedure established by the committee, after passing an examination. The certificate is issued indefinitely, but the law states that within three years the individual must undergo retraining at least once according to the procedure set by the committee. After demonstrating positive results, the person can continue their activities. As I said, this happens at least once every three years. But now this person has signed some order, stating that all of this must remain in effect for 6 months with the condition that during that time they must come for retraining and pass the exam, and if they receive a negative result or do not show up, that certificate will be deemed invalid,” said Armen Avagyan, director of one of the customs representative organizations, in an interview with “Hayastani Hanrapetutyun”.
“We are here today to say, brother, who are you to place your authority above what is written in the law? What kind of incomprehensible arithmetic leads you to make such a decision? It seems they have decided to accept Shushan Nikoghosyan, but what will she say? Perhaps she will say, no, go away, everything is fine according to the law. We just want to raise this issue in a civilized manner,” Avagyan added.
