“We Call on the United States to Refrain from Provocative Actions”: Peskov
The Russian authorities have developed a plan to mitigate the consequences of certain dollar transactions in the event of sanctions being imposed on Russian banks by the United States. This was announced by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president, according to TASS.
“There are programs, plans to reduce the consequences of such unpredictable actions and to neutralize risks,” Peskov said in response to a journalist's question.
“And once again, I reiterate, we consistently urge the United States to refrain from provocative actions and to avoid escalating tensions on the European continent,” Peskov emphasized.
It is worth recalling that on January 29, Bloomberg reported, citing its sources, that the U.S. and the EU were close to developing anti-Russian sanctions targeting the banking sector. The sanctions are expected to be imposed if Russia invades Ukraine.
