Video: Unable to Rescue Chief Mechanic on Sinking Ship in Russia

The investigation into the sinking of the "Aquanova" ship continues in Primorye. One crew member, the chief mechanic of the ship, has perished due to the sinking, while 14 people have been evacuated. Investigators have initiated a criminal case regarding the incident. The chief mechanic was unable to escape.

The ship began to sink at the Zarubino port. The captain and his assistant dove in to help the 58-year-old mechanic, but it was in vain. Footage of the incident has been released.

The ship is being examined by divers, with part of it still submerged. Preliminary data indicates that the "Aquanova" contained about 16 tons of fuel, with no leaks reported.

The Primorsky investigative department of the Eastern Interregional Transport Investigative Committee of Russia has opened a criminal case regarding violations of safety and operational rules in maritime transport, resulting in death through negligence, under Article 263, Part 2 of the Russian Criminal Code.
