Lithuania to Cancel Covid Certificates Starting February 5
The decision to suspend the validity of Covid certificates was made on Wednesday, February 2, by the Cabinet of Ministers of Lithuania. According to delfi.lt, the cancellation of coronavirus infection certificates will take effect on February 5 in the country. Additionally, mandatory periodic testing for employees to diagnose COVID-19 will also be canceled in some areas.
“As the epidemiological situation is currently unfavorable, the number of patients is increasing, the awareness of the public and individual protective measures, such as respiratory measures, masks, and limited contact, are now paramount, especially if there has been contact or symptoms are present,” said Lithuania's Minister of Health Arūnas Dulkys.
Dulkys noted that the “opportunity passport” has served its purpose, helping to increase vaccination rates and avoid a complete lockdown in the country. He also mentioned that if the epidemiological situation worsens, Covid passports could be reintroduced.
