Foreign Spectators Arriving in Beijing Will Not Be Allowed to Attend the Games
International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Director Christophe Dubi has stated that they aim to allocate 30% of the seating at the Beijing Winter Olympic Games to sports fans. According to international media reports, the organizing committee has jointly published a charter with the IOC which states that foreign spectators will not be permitted to attend the games.
Chinese authorities have decided not to conduct open ticket sales and will allocate tickets to specific groups of people. The matter of permitting spectators has not yet received a final resolution, as clarifications need to be made regarding whether the competition venues will be open or closed. In any case, the Winter Games will have spectators, taking into account millions of remote viewers.
