Students escape from burning building, former convict arrested for arson in Russia

In the city of Chertanovo, Moscow, students narrowly escaped a fire while saving their neighbor, risking their own lives. The fire erupted in one of the apartments on the ninth floor. Reports indicate that 12 individuals were evacuated and three were injured.

Initially, the cause of the fire was thought to be a short circuit. However, it was later revealed that the fire was set intentionally.

Authorities have arrested 42-year-old Sergey Germanov, who had prior convictions for illegal trafficking of weapons and narcotics. According to the Investigative Committee of Russia, the suspect sought revenge on his former girlfriend by placing her belongings near the apartment door, setting them ablaze, and leaving through the entrance. He has been charged with attempted murder of two or more persons.
