Sochi Will Not Celebrate 'Azerbaijan's Victory Day'; Apology Issued

The decision published on the Sochi City Hall website to celebrate Azerbaijan's 'Victory Day in the 2020 Patriotic War' has been declared fake and has already been removed. This was reported by the press service of the resort city, as conveyed by krasnodarmedia.su.

The Sochi City Hall has officially apologized and stated that it is taking all measures to protect its informational resources in the future.

Earlier, several Telegram channels disseminated information that Azerbaijan's Victory Day in the '2020 Patriotic War' was included in Sochi's 2022 festive event program. This refers to the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh, which resulted in several territories coming under Baku's control, and Russian peacekeepers entering the region. This information was accompanied by relevant screenshots.

The City Hall has stated that this post has been recognized as fake and was aimed at inciting hostility. They also mentioned that their specialists noticed unauthorized access to the City Hall's website on January 5 at 00:17 Moscow time and immediately prevented it.

On February 1, 2022, specialists from the Department of Information and Communications concluded that, as a result of a hacker attack, criminals had accessed the section of normative legal acts. These criminals made false entries in the decision on approving the calendar plan of festive days, memorial and anniversary days, significant events, and activities, which were deliberately aimed at inflaming inter-ethnic hostility. Several other instances of changes to official formulations were also recorded, as reported by the City Hall's press service.
