UN Security Council to Hold Meeting on Ukraine
The UN Security Council will hold a meeting today regarding the situation surrounding Ukraine. The meeting was requested by the United States, according to TASS.
During a procedural vote, the Security Council expressed its support for the meeting. Ten countries voted in favor, while Russia and China voted against, and three countries abstained. A total of nine affirmative votes were necessary for the meeting to take place.
As announced by the Council's President, Mona Jule, Norway's permanent representative, representatives from Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, and Poland will participate in the meeting. On January 27, the United States requested a meeting regarding Ukraine, which was also joined by Ukraine itself.
