Maya Buzinova, Voice Actor of Cheburashka, Passes Away

Maya Buzinova, a director and animator, has passed away at the age of 93. This was announced by Sergey Kapkov, the chief editor of the Soyuzmultfilm studio, as reported by Gоворит Москва.

“Two stars have burned out in the sky of eternity. Two irreplaceable people in the history of Soviet cinematography. Maya Nikolaevna Buzinova, who gave life to Cheburashka. Yuri Norstein often says that the entire uniqueness, emotionality, helplessness, and delicacy of this character comes from ‘Mayechka’,” wrote Kapkov.

“The Glove,” “The Golden Calf,” “Aibolit and Barmaley,” “The Smallest Dwarf,” and dozens of other animated films were brought to life thanks to Buzinova's talent as an animator,” he added.

Earlier, it was also reported that actor Leonid Kuravlyov had passed away at the age of 85. The People's Artist of the RSFSR was known not only for his characters in animated films but also for roles in such films as “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Profession,” “Afonya,” “The Meeting Place Cannot Be Changed,” “The Golden Calf,” and “The Most Charming and Attractive.”
