Hundreds of Truck Drivers Protest Mandatory Vaccinations in Canada
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his family have left their residence in Ottawa for security reasons and moved to a secret location, as reported by CBC. The decision was made in connection with a large-scale protest initiated by Canadian truck drivers against COVID-19 restrictions. According to police, the number of protesters gathered at a square near Parliament has exceeded 10,000, as truck drivers’ protest march has been joined by other drivers and many citizens of Canada.
Hundreds of truck drivers have protested against mandatory vaccinations that recently came into effect when crossing the border with the United States. On Saturday, January 29, truck and trailer drivers arrived in Ottawa, where they were greeted by thousands of anti-restriction protesters carrying national flags and 'Freedom' placards, along with slogans criticizing the government.
It should be noted that in mid-January, Canada and the US confirmed the requirement for mandatory vaccination at the border. Unvaccinated Canadian truck drivers are required to enter a 14-day quarantine upon returning from the US, while their American counterparts are completely prohibited from entering Canada unless they have a vaccination certificate.
