Famous Armenian TV Host's Post Causes Stir in America

A famous American TV host and political commentator, Ana Kasparian, has sparked significant controversy on social media platforms, particularly within the Turkish sphere.

Kasparian specifically wrote: “Where was the U.S. when Azerbaijan was preparing to attack Armenia? There has been no voice from the congress members who rush to a new reckless war. It's amazing how many people believe that the U.S. cares about the defense of sovereign states.”

In the comments on Twitter, users from Turkish and Azerbaijani segments have attempted to dispute the host's posts, arguing that the U.S. should have previously assisted Azerbaijan in “liberating occupied lands.” In response, Kasparian expressed herself more forcefully.

“That land was illegally transferred to Azerbaijan by Stalin. The overwhelming majority of the population of that country is ethnically Armenian. But the Turkic tribes know a thing or two about seizing land and killing people,” the host stated.

Her comment has been circulated by the Turkish news portal Vaziyet on Twitter. Turkish users immediately sought to clarify the stance of American commentator and activist Cenk Uygur regarding his colleague Ana Kasparian's statements. This inquiry stems from the fact that Uygur co-hosts a well-known liberal-progressive program focused on social and political topics alongside Kasparian on the large online news show, The Young Turks.

One user demanded an explanation of when “the Young Turks” began to advance the interests of Armenia.

It should be noted that Cenk Uygur, who is of Turkish descent, faced criticism in 2012 for denying the Armenian Genocide in his publications from 1991 and 1999. He has since publicly acknowledged the Armenian Genocide multiple times, explaining that his previous views were due to a lack of awareness of the facts.
