Tigran Abrahamyan on Hayk Mamijanyan's Vote Against the Resolution Indicating Armenia's Unprecedented Democracy at PACE
Member of the National Assembly's "Honorary Have" faction Tigran Abrahamyan wrote on his Facebook page:
“The authorities who have surrendered 75% of Artsakh, under whose criminal inaction Azerbaijan has occupied the sovereign territory of Armenia in the Gegharkunik, Vayots Dzor, and Syunik regions, and established control over Armenia's strategic infrastructures, are now discussing Hayk Mamijanyan's vote against the resolution indicating Armenia's 'unprecedented democracy.' What is democracy? Is it the case that a criminal case has been launched against Hayk for participating in a march or action against those who hand over the country? Or are the pressures on opposition and even neutral political figures, and the numerous incidents of detention of candidates in local government elections, signs of the unseen, unheard 'democracy'?
Those who accept and forward the agenda of the Azerbaijaniization of Artsakh and Armenia, which has been declared by this government, have come and are trying to teach lessons about the state to those who have dedicated their entire lives to the homeland and are still doing the possible and impossible. What tremendous work Hayk and our other friends are doing outside of our country to represent and advance Armenian interests is even known within the government itself. This is not just about PACE or the parliamentary formats of the Republic of Armenia; these are all platforms where the Republican Party has established a significant front of work over many years, and today, using its immense experience and vast connections abroad, it continues to present, insist upon, and advance critical issues for our country.
Our struggle for the existence of Armenians in this region will continue, and Hayk will undoubtedly have a huge share of it today, tomorrow, and for as long as necessary.”
