«We Have Approached the Most Important Period in Our History» – Lukashenko

Belarus is close to a renewal of its political system. This is the most important period in the country’s history, stated Alexander Lukashenko in a message to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly on Friday, January 28.

“Being in good shape and looking confidently to the future, we have approached the most important period in our history—the renewal of the political system and a new level of interaction between the state and society,” said Lukashenko.

He reminded that a referendum on constitutional amendments is to be held soon in the country. According to the Belarusian leader, the draft of the new main law of the country has been prepared over five years.

Lukashenko also mentioned that a law on civil society will soon be adopted in Belarus. “Constructive public organizations should fill the gaps in areas where so-called foreign agents used to ‘operate’,” added Lukashenko.

According to him, there are “healthy forces in society” in Belarus that are ready to generate and implement constructive ideas. This includes not only major public associations but also new patriotic organizations.
